Hivos and the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) would like to invite you to join us for thought-provoking discussions on the evolving relationship between Latin America and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

There are a lot of developments on the Latin American continent that impact the safety and security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. And Vice Versa. Think of the effects of the Venezuelan crisis on their neighbouring countries.  But also positive developments, such as the Indigenous-led climate solutions in Brazil, and the path towards inclusive peace in Colombia.

The event brings together leading experts and stakeholders working in Latin America, amongst others, Jeremy McDermott, Director at Insight Crime, Arjen van den Berg, the Dutch Ambassador in Costa Rica, Danielle Hirsch, MP from GreenLeft-Labour Party (TBC), and Edwin Koopman, journalist for BNR News Radio. They will be joined by Paula Moreira, from Hivos’ Voices for Just Climate Action program in Brazil, Fábio de Castro, Assistant Professor of Brazilian Studies at CEDLA, and Angela Rodriguez, NIMD Director in Colombia. Together we will discuss these developments and how they affect the relationship between the two regions.
